Payal and Rajiv Sharma took over Sitar restaurant located at 665
West Jericho Turnpike in Huntington 6 years ago after dabbling
in the banking and finance careers. Soon they discovered the
profitability in offering catering and wedding planning
services. This year alone Sitar has booked over 250
weddings/events, including corporate events for large
pharmaceutical firms like Merck and Pfizer. Sitar has become the
preferred Indian restaurant for people who want to have a meal
with their family and friends as well as celebrate their special
events at Sitar’s in house banquet halls or have a large event
at one of the catering halls offered by Sitar.
Sitar restaurant not only aims to provide customers with healthy
vegetarian food but also provide them with specials that are
designed to stimulate their palate. Sitar offers all the
delectable fare that most upscale North Indian restaurants would
offer. In addition to that we also provide Asian fusion cuisine.
Our style of fusion utilizes ingredients that are found in South
and Southeast Asia mainly. Some of the ingredients utilized are
Kaffir lime leaves, Lemongrass stalks, Galangal root (ginger
root’s cousin), Mangos etc. One of the most popular item is
Mango Tofu, which is served with rice noodles in a mango shell.
This is an example of how few ingredients rarely used together
are blended to offer a delectable tasty vegetarian entree. One
of the regular offerings in the appetizer category is the Asian
style vegetable wontons with mango chilly sauce. Once again
utilizing healthy ingredients to create a delicious vegetarian
appetizer. Besides mango tofu Sitar also offers Mango Shrimp and
Mango Chicken which have also caught on as customer favorites
among non-vegetarian eaters. Regulars also enjoy a Thai style
lemongrass soup, which is served both vegetarian and
non-vegetarian.
Sitar has established itself in the Indian Wedding market which
has grown tremendously over the last few years. Indian couples
in America now want big weddings, which wasn’t the case ten
years ago. They want to have an experience which can be
remembered and cherished for years to come. Sitar not only is
the caterer for these weddings but also the complete wedding
planner. This includes arranging the hall, flower arrangements,
setting up the Mandap and reception chairs, arranging
accommodation for the bridal and honeymoon suites, wedding cake,
champagne toast, entertainment for the reception, be it live or
a professional DJ along with dinner and desserts. Modern couples
are not satisfied with the basic buffet style of serving food at
large events. They want their guests to be able to have an
extravagant food experience. One of the areas where Sitar has
become a pioneer is in the food station concept. For banquets
Sitar offers multiple choice of stations reflecting a region or
a style of cuisine. One of the most popular stations is a
Mexican station where a chef will prepare hot cheese and
vegetable quesadillas on a grill. There will be chips, mango
salsa, guacamole and spinach dip. The tortillas come in a few
different vivid flavors and colors. Spinach, sun-dried tomato,
cilantro lemon, and pesto-flavored tortillas are used.
Sitar offers a lot of different food stations as part of their
wedding/catering menu such as a Thai station, Chat station,
Mediterranean station, South-Indian station where we serve Dosas,
Idli, Vadas and Sambhar as well as numerous other innovative
stations which are listed in our catering menu section. These
stations are all offered both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. All
